Eastgate’s WSOP Bracelet Sells For $147,500

Peter Eastgate has sold his WSOP Main Event winner’s bracelet on eBay for $147,500, with the proceeds going to the charity UNICEF.  The winning bid came 22 minutes before the end but it isn’t known who purchased it.

What is clear, however, is that the winner isn’t poker legend Tony G, who had been hoping to pick up the trophy to fashion into a collar for his German Shepherd dog.  The Australian’s controversial move did help spark a bidding war which saw the six-figure sum raised.

Eastgate, who is from Denmark, retired from competitive poker at the age of 24 last year, having achieved the financial security he desired through the game.  Unless the winner of the auction comes forward, he will be known only by his partly-censored eBay alias of “7***l”.
