Isildur1 To Take On Isaac Haxton In SuperStar Showdown

The excitement surrounding the signing of the mysterious Isildur1 as a PokerStars Pro has been growing ever since the news was announced, and now the site has confirmed that the player, widely believed to be Swede Viktor Blom, will take on Isaac Haxton in the first of a series of $150,000 SuperStar Showdowns.

These challenge matches will see Isildur1 play a series of high stakes opponents, as well as ordinary players who qualify through freerolls for a $15,000 PokerStars bankroll for the match, of four tables of either No Limit Hold Em or Pot Limit Omaha at stakes of at least $25/50 (qualifier matches to be played at $5/10).

Haxton, who plays as “philivey2694” on PokerStars, and has faced Isildur1 before on Full Tilt under his alias there of “iluvthewnba” will be the first challenger.  When the two played together in Hold Em on Full Tilt, sometimes across as many as twelve tables, Haxton emerged with a six-figure profit.

The PokerStars blog announced the time for the match-up, stating: “On December 19 at 6pm ET, Haxton and Isildur1 will face off at four $50/$100 no-limit hold’em tables.  On the line is $150,000 apiece over 2,500 total hands.  The match, one of a series known as the SuperStar Showdown, will be played in public on PokerStars for everyone to watch.”

“This isn’t some run-of-the-mill promotion or made-for-tv event.  The players are putting their own money on the table.  Whoever loses is losing up to $150,000 from a real bankroll.  Simple as that.”

The event is sure to draw a huge number of railbirds, and it will be interesting to see how Isildur1, who has enjoyed a typically roller-coaster start to his PokerStars career, gets on.
