Bodog To Withdraw From US Market At End Of Year
Bodog has become the latest online poker company to announce that it will be leaving the US market. The company will cease offering poker to American players when its licence to operate with the Morris Mohawk Gaming expires at the end of the year. Bodog has continued to offer online poker in the USA, as it was not one of the few sites not targeted by the US Department of Justice in April.
In a statement, Bodog said: “Following recent news that Bodog UK has been granted a gambling license by the UK Gambling Commission, we are pleased to announce further developments to the Bodog brand going forward.” Alongside this development, however, the company has decided not to continue its interests in the American market so as to pursue growing markets in Europe and Asia without the potential problems that can affect operators who continue to offer gaming in the potentially tricky legal area of the USA.
US residents will no longer be able to access Bodog after 31st December, but Morris Mohawk Gaming intends to launch a site regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission that they will be able to switch to if they wish.
