The International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) has revolutionized the world of poker, establishing the first online and live tournament in poker...

The International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) has revolutionized the world of poker, establishing the first online and live tournament in poker history, scheduled for May 2013 at the legendary Wembley Stadium in London. The tournament will take place on a tactile tablet and around real tables, promising to be one of the biggest prize pools ever.

The online and live tournament is a brand new concept, devised thanks to technological innovations which will allow up to 30,000 players from all over the world to compete on digital tablets. The top 3,000 players will then advance to the live tournament which will be played on right on the Wembley Stadium field.

The tournament, which will feature a €600 buy-in, will be accessible for everyone. Organizers are expecting a huge turnout and a overall prize pool of approximately €20 million.

The first competition will take place from May 31st to June 6th, 2013. The project was thought up and created by Laurent Tapie and Prosper Masquelier. “We hope that this event will be fondly remembered by the participants and that it breaks all records in the matter,” said Tapie. “We had to consider an exceptional set up, a location that can host 30,000 people. Wembley seemed like the perfect option.”

First place: $10,000,000

2nd-10th: These players will be paid $7,500,000. The exact payout structure has not been announced.

11th-????: The rest of the players will be competing for $12,500,000. Once again, the exact payout structure for the ISPT has not been announced. I would imagine that it will be comparable to the other major poker tournaments like the WSOP.

The $10 million dollar first place prize at the London ISPT event is over $1,000,000 higher than the first place prize for the 2010 WSOP Main Event.

Another big online gaming brand is withdrawing from the Spanish market. The move comes in advance of pending legislation in the country that will regulate online poker and other online gaming.
The latest departure is from publicly listed Nordic giant Unibet, that operates an online poker room on Microgaming internationally and in France.
According to Spanish news site Poker Red, Unibet has emailed customers registered in Spain and informed them that they only have until May 14 to place their last bets. All online gaming, including poker, will cease, but players have a leisurely 30 months to withdraw their funds.

Collaboration between the World Series of Poker and the Crown Casino Melbourne will see five coveted gold bracelets awarded next year in Australia....

Collaboration between the World Series of Poker and the Crown Casino Melbourne will see five coveted gold bracelets awarded next year in Australia. The team up between these two big brand names will see a flurry of poker activity in Melbourne between the 4th and 15th April 2013.

WSOP Grand Slam

Ty Stewart, Executive Director for WSOP said: “Our goal is to establish a worldwide grand slam of poker and to use our platform to elevate the game through a series of major championships.” The WSOP is a well-established annual event and the WSOP Europe, now in its fifth year continues to grow, as the organisation felt it was time to turn their eyes to the world’s next great concentration of poker in Asia and Australia.

Stewart pointed to the Crown Casino in Melbourne’s massively successful Aussie Poker Millions event as a deciding factor. This draws thousands of poker players to Australia at the start of each year to one of the largest casinos outside of the US.

Exciting partnership

Greg Hawkins of Crown Melbourne said of the event: “an exciting partnership” that will create a premier event in the region.

This event will be only the third time that WSOP bracelets have been awarded away from the tournament’s spiritual homeland in Las Vegas, the others being in London and Cannes.

Australian WSOP bracelet holder, Joe Hachem talked at the launch about how much of a life-changing event winning such a competition can be and said: “Its thrilling to think the World Series of Poker is coming to Australian soil. I can’t wait.” Somehow we don’t think he will be alone in his enthusiasm.

Time to start saving up :)
