I folded but played it really bad. I think preflop is fine for the reasons i stated, but i should probably check the turn since i have the Jh. If i didnt haev Jh i think b/f is best.

The small blind bets $40 into a pot of $60 with a flop of 8,6 hearts and a raggy 3! Looks like he either has the nut flush draw, A-8 or a set and is trying to make sure you pay over the odds to hit your draws. Therefore a raise to 3 x his bet ($120 into a pot of $100) will let you know if you have any chance in this hand. Again if he has a set he could just call your raise and maybe he checks the turn allowing you to check behind if you dont hit a J. Giving you a free card. If he raises your $120 bet you know you're dead and can fold.

I'd be interested to see what you think his range might be here.
I plugged the following into stove and was surprised: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 45.429% 44.55% 00.88% 882 17.50 { JcJh } Hand 1: 54.571% 53.69% 00.88% 1063 17.50 { 88+, 66, AhKh, AhQh, AhKc, AhKd, AhKs, AhQc, AhQd, AhQs } but then maybe that is not a reasonable range for him, perhaps he's never doing this with A Kx or A Qx, but even if you give him just 66,88+,A K and A Q , you're still not much worse, just better than a 60/40 dog, which still has to be a call if you knew it was true. Even if we give him a couple more flushes with A J and A T , we're still slightly better than a 60/40 dog...But as I say, that range could be complete horseshit, just surprised me what good shape we're in against such a range. It's only if we can somehow eliminate 99 and TT from his range entirely that we look in terrible shape, turning into a 4-1 dog if we do... |
