Default Steps on Stars

Anyone play these much? What's the standard like at the higher levels?

I've played Step 1 twice this morning, got another go at Step 1 on my first attempt and a Step 2 ticket the second go. I found the standard varied from the sublime (well, maybe not quite that good, but there's defo a few multi-tabling nits playing these) to the ridiculous (this one I do mean e.g. limping UTG then calling for your stack with Q9o - but winning against AK obv).

I played about 25 Step 1s and managed to get 2 Step 6s out of it, but both failboats.

The standard is quite poor on Step 1-3 but they are quite tough, Step 4-6 seem to be easier in the sense that it contains less donkey play. Not to say the level of play is easy, you need to basically play tight until the blinds get high then push-bot.

Good luck.

imo start at step 2, you will do better with less buy-ins at step 2 then more at step 1 just because of the stupid donk calls you get on step 1

^this

you have to finish top two at step one and you'll quite probably burn the same dosh anyway if it takes you a few go's

I'm still a nit and dropping $27 each time I bust out of Step 2 hurts.

Might give Steps another try soon, haven't played it since losing in Step 6 a few weeks back.

no, it's just that the step 2 structure is a lot better - ie top 4 at least gets you a retry

I've not really played them, but the Steps seem like a decent way of getting into the Sunday Mill (and obv any other touneys with the same buyin) cheaply by getting up to a step 4 ticket. They're also a pretty good way to rack up some FPPs if you get up through the levels.

I emailed Stars about Step 4A and getting the W$650 ticket to the WSOP satellite, they said you cannot unregister to keep the W$ to play anything you want, instead you have to play any $650 tournament using your ticket.

But my mate used the W$ to play Step 1 again, very confused!

I might try this approach so I can break even on the Steps games, so far I have invested in about $250 or so with no return.

if you qualify for the Sunday Million through steps, can you unreg and take the $T215?
