Forum Stats [Last Updated March 21st]

I've been keeping these new stats since the move, I'll try to keep them up to date pretty much every day. Sorry for the poor quality of the graphs, maybe I'll spruce them up some time, make them look a bit nicer. Anyways, just thought I'd make these available so you can all keep an eye on how things are going membership wise.

We have averaged 14 new members per day
and are about 99 days from reaching 20,000 members.

We have averaged 242 posts per day
and are about 322 days from reaching 400,000 posts

Edit: And as my birthday present to you all, I've added a new graph! (Hey, it's the thought that counts, alright? ) Shows our average daily signups broken down by month, to further emphasize how we're growing, hope you find it useful/interesting.

Edit: Another new graph added, showing how our average daily number of posts is changing from month to month. This graph shows nicely how even though our membership is not rising as sharply, EMS is string growing predictably and doing incredibly well.

Edit (8th May 2007): Changed graphs slightly to make them look a little nicer, just some transparent backgrounds, nothing special. Will experiment with transparency on the graph area itself on next update. Also, using paperclip option for file hosting now.

Edit (16th August 2007): Two new graphs added, showing how our signups and posts are distributed throughout the week. Thought it might be interesting to see if we develop "busy" and "quiet" days in either of the aspects.

Interesting stats as always.

I suppose the question is whether the higher number of sign-ups in the last 10 days is inicative of an increasing trend or just standard fluctuation.

If it is a higher level we are 30-40 days away from 1500 members.

Indeed, and obviously the stats I've derived are very basic and just based on total averages. But you're probably right, the trend for membership of fora usually follows a roughly exponential increase over time, so my estimates for how long until we reach x number of members are probably a little conservative, we should reach them sooner.

Looking at my stats, last month we averaged 507.29 people per day looking at the forum with an average of 13439.71 pages viewed per day.

This month we have an average of 576.40 people per day browsing the forum with an average of 14104.00 pages viewed per day.

That's the way of fora unfortunately. We still have a much higher proportion of posters to members than most other fora I have looked at. A lot of signups could be bots, either spam or datamining, looking for email addresses etc. As we know, many people just read the forum and do not want to post, which is understandable, although obviously it would be great if they got involved.

We've had a few lurkers turn to become posters recently, so maybe things will pick up in that respect in the future weeks and months, but to be honest I think our proportion of active members is pretty good right now.

No other UK forum generates more posts per day and page views per unique visitor than EMS.

I have complete stats on all unique users and I amazed that many do not sign up or do sign up but never post but they do view EMS daily.
